Concepts and definitions of natural resources. Sustainability and renewability of resources. Local and world’s resources/reserves and exploitation rate of basic energetic resources (coal, oil and gas), metal ores (iron, copper, lead, zinc etc.), chemical resources (sulphur and salts) and rocks. Methods of exploitation and the influence of exploitation on the environment. Importance of research and innovation in the protection and development of resources. Sustainable economic development and protection of natural resources. |

Learning outcomes: |
Knowledge Student knows the basic geological processes that concentrate the mineral and organic resources Student knows a concept of dynamic natural resources and its importance for the politics of economic development Student has knowledge about the reserves, occurrence, exploitation rate and use of the basic resources; knows the criteria and rules of the assessment of reserves Student knows the methods of exploitation and processing of the resources, and their impact on the environment Skills Student recognizes the main energetic, metallic, chemical and rock resources exploited in Poland; indicates their basic properties Student knows and can apply the activities related to the protection of natural resources Social competences Student understands the threats for environment and results of the irrational management of the natural resources. Student understands the need for sustainable economic development; indicates the rational arguments for sustainable economic development; identifies and judges the problems of environmental exploration and management Student knows the social role of the graduated students, in particular, in the need for reliable and clear informing about problems of environmental protection and sustainable development. |
